How come you don't use the intro song from your old old videos?

The intro music got dated very quickly, the Tekkit version and others that Pedro made gave them some new life but only for so long. The other main reason was having to edit the episode title, episode number and series name onto the start of each episode and even just one of them misspelled or incorrect and it’d require a re-render, ball ache haha!

As for outros.. End slates don’t really get clicked much. Only about 30 - 50% of people get to the very end of a video, you notice a big dip off in the last 20 seconds as people know a slate is coming or as the commentator ‘wraps it up’ people move on.

Having the content the way it is now means that 100% of the video is actual content and not formalities / repeating things or summarizing the previous video, which, when watching a playlist is a relief :)

A few thoughts on Destiny [PS4]

So I’ve been streaming and tweeting a lot about Destiny this past week so I thought I’d just share some super simple opinions (I’m no reviewer, I’m just as consumer as the next guy) and suggestions for the game from what I’ve experienced so far.

The Good:

The progression time from Level 1 to 20 for me was pretty on the money. It may have seemed quick when I tell people “it took me 3 or 4 days” but bear in mind I did sink 3 - 6 hours in to it each day.

Ahead of the Raids the end-game is luckily very addictive partly because you can do it in a rhythmic fashion and somewhat zone out the other side of it is my thirst and need for all the vanity items! Shaders, emblems etc. which all cost a good pile of Glimmers and that’s before we even start talking about tomes of light.. All the currencies! Haha

I’ve never been particularly good at PVP in shooters, I’ve just played them to be social or enjoyed mini games (particularly in Halo’s level builder) but I’ve really hit my stride in Destiny. The map designs are great! From winding corridors that can line up to create a straight shot to fire down, good coverage and corners by capture points and the use of the Sparrow to traverse the maps quickly rather than pre-defined vehicles that are often piloted by noobs.

I think this a half-and-half point but I was able to complete the entire campaign (bar strikes which I’d totally try if I could) solo. I’ve gelled really well with the game but I certainly don’t think I’m any kind of pro and that kind of accessibility for players is great.

The social aspect of the game has been a real driving factor for me so far.. I don’t just mean the ability to drop in and out of available slots on a fireteam on the fly but also the incredibly comprehensive website/app. Being able to show people my 3D character, gear and game statistics on the fly is handy for conversation. The clans/groups are effortless to setup and the official forums don’t require any more verification or logins (thank god!).

The Bad:

Every mission you can be assured that there’ll be a “here’s a console, let me scan it” triggers alarm "I need more time hold them off!", 3 waves then move on.. I’ve noticed from reading the Destiny official forums that I’m not the only person that feels this way as people are very passionate about not spoiling Sword Of Crota mission for people as it deviates a lot more than the rest.

I had some worries headed in to launch about the campaign as it was the big driving point yet when we entered BETA it suddenly became all about the PVP and nothing else.. Then this video summed it up perfectly haha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9YoJjdEBv8 — I’m sure in future patches the world will become vaster but it does feel like corridors currently, like a Zelda title almost.

I’m a little dissapointed with the Strike bosses. It seems to be they’re difficult because of the high damage and excess of ads as opposed to any kind of mechanics. Nexus is a three piece toaster, I was hoping there’d be some kind of phase system where a piece falls off and he gives things a new spin but he quite literally just floats there and spins to face the highest damage dealer, not a lot else.

Oh and loot! It’d be nice to have a guaranteed green or blue drop from each final boss down on a Strike and maybe a legendary from each raid completion even if only person is granted it.

I know the game is supposed to have a story that will unravel over time but it feels like the foundations aren’t all solidified yet. We were presented with the traveller and darkness which is an incredibly simple light/dark premise and given a bunch of races (friendly and enemies) with little explanation as to why Humans are working alongside the Awoken or why the Hive and Fallen clash. Given the way the final story mission concludes too, it makes it feel like a quickie book? lol

WHY’S THERE NO GOOD GREEN SHADER?! There are only two, one is very dark and the other is mainly white with green trimmings. I was hoping to have a wonderfully vibrant one.

These are just a few bits / bobs that I’ve spoke about on Twitter over the past few days fleshed out. I’m sure variety in missions and other points of question right now will be ironed out and focused on over the coming months with the expansions. What do you think? Tweet me @InTheLittleWood :3
